Women in history stood best known for a less ascendant sex in the mid-nineteen centuries. Since times have gone by women had fought for their equal rights and freedom. There had been many stereotypes, where the women were considered as a slave to the men’s because the women’s position was to be the homemakers and a mother to their children, while the men’s are out socializing with others. If they were not happy with the marriage, they cannot just walk out or complain because a women role is to endure all these pains without a word coming out of their mouths. Two out of the ordinary short stories, â€Å"The Yellow Wallpaper† and â€Å"The Story of An Hour,† mostly focused on a women’s dilemma that they faced near the 19th century. The two main characters in the short stories show some resemblances in some ways, but both characters portrayed them in different ways of how they dealt their sorrows in their marriages. â€Å"The Story of An Hour† by Kate Chopin is about a woman named Louise Mallard, who was very unsatisfied with her marriage and she did not know what happiness was until the death of her husbands’. As a result, in the story, â€Å"The Story of An Hour† by Kate Chopin states, â€Å"She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life.†(Chopin 278) It happens to infer that her husband s death was not giving her grief, but an open door to a new beginning to her new life. Over the last twenty years, one of the most remarkable changes in family structure has been the increase in the number of single-parent families. In this type of family, one parent in the household is raising the children due to the high divorce rates and adults choosing not to marry. This is â€Å"currently the fastest growing family type in North America†. According to a research, â€Å"88 percent of these families are headed by women currently.†9 Children living in single parent households often have to contend with negative labels and unkind remarks made by many people in the community. A single parent family where the mother has to look after everything, faces a barrage of problems including low wages, scarce employment opportunities, lack of financial support and high cost of living (p.21). In the views of Mary Bender, profit is the major goal of the company and health warnings on packs may reduce the market share and profits of the company. Mary also says that they must think about their shareholders. The main motive of Mary is to earn more profits and also provide high returns to the shareholders of the company. Mary is against the health warnings on cigarette packs just because to increase the revenues as well as market shares of the organization. On the other hand, Randall Hedges is in the favor of the health warnings on cigarette packs. Randall says that, according to the Australian law, they need to mention general health warnings on the pack. Moreover, they also need to fulfill their corporate social responsibility. Beside the fact, Mary Bender (marketing manager) of Big Business Tobacco is willing to sell cigarette packs without any health warnings on the packs. According to theAustralian law, health warnings on packs are essential to make aware to people. If they do not put these types of warnings then it may create ethical issues for the company (Thomas Gostin, 2013). Apart from this, the second major ethical issue involved in the conversation is that Mary Bender is only thinking about the profitability of the company. A company should think about its strong customer relationship instead of profitability. The company should offer healthier products to its customers. But, BBT is a tobacco company and cannot offer healthy products to the customers. In this situation, it is fully obliged to put health warnings on the packs. Furthermore, the third major issue is related to the CSR of the company. For case, if they do not display health warnings on packs then they would be unable to fulfill their corporate social responsibility towards the community. If I were Randall Hedges (public relations manager) then I will definitely fulfill all the responsibilities that come under the area of my designation. A public relations manager is fully obliged to have concern towards the public and community in which the company operates its business. Along with this, I will follow all the legal rules and standards to do business and improve the intelligibility of the company.
